The cultivation of olive trees in Tuscia has ancient origins: it began to spread as early as the 6th century BC, thanks to the trade between the Etruscans, Greeks, and Phoenicians. Extra virgin olive oil is a high-quality product with a distinctive and full flavor. However, the great quality of the extra virgin oils of Tuscia also lies in the continuous efforts of producers and oil mills to achieve high-quality standards. The expert Pierluigi will welcome you for a visit to the oil mill and a walk in the nearby countryside, where he will talk about the revival of abandoned olive groves. This will be followed by a snack with bruschette seasoned with their own oils.
In the afternoon, you will transfer to the hills of Lake Bolsena where the Battaglini Agricultural Company is located. Here, the olive groves extend along gentle slopes, benefiting from the favorable exposure, clean air, soil nature, and the proximity of the lake, creating an optimal microclimate for organic olive cultivation.
The experience begins with a welcome to the oil mill, followed by a tour of the production spaces and the machine room, where the owner Andrea will talk about the company’s evolution in both olive cultivation methods and oil production. Then, it will be time for a guided tasting of various types of oil and typical local specialties.
