Tourist welcome Capranica

Comune Capranica

During Stage 42 of the Via Francigena, just 5 km before reaching Sutri, pilgrims pass through the town of Capranica, situated on a tuff cliff to the south of Lake Vico.

The name of the town is believed to have originated from Capralica, itself derived from the expression “Caprae ilex” (meaning “holly of the goats”), referencing the settlement founded by a group of goat herders from the Etruscan town of Vico Matrino.
