Located on a hill on the southeastern slope of the Monti Volsini mountain range, overlooking the southeastern shore of Lake Bolsena, is the Municipality of Montefiascone. The name, originally “mons Flasconis” (“mountain of the flask”), shows the influence of the Gothic term “flaskun.” The Rocca dei Papi represents the endpoint of Stage 39 of the Via Francigena and the 100th kilometer from the Tomb of Peter.

In Piazza Vittorio Emanuele snc, right along the path of the Via Francigena, you’ll find the Visit Montefiascone infopoint, which offers the following services:

• There are no restroom facilities available, but you can use the free public restrooms at Piazzale Roma;
• Sale and stamping of the Pilgrim Credentials with the design of the 100th Kilometer from the Tomb of Peter, along with a certificate signed by the mayor;
• Distribution of brochures about the Via Francigena, including a map of the route from Proceno to Vetralla.
