Tourist welcome in Latera

Comune Latera

Approximately 15 km from the stretch of the Via Francigena that passes through San Lorenzo Nuovo during Stage 38, on a hill to the northwest of Lake Bolsena, you’ll find the tiny town of Latera.

According to the most widely accepted hypothesis, its name derives from the Latin term “later” (“brick”), due to its proximity to an ancient stone quarry.
