Located a little less than 30 km from Montefiascone, the endpoint of Stage 39 of the Via Francigena, on a tuff spur surrounded by gorges carved by two of the numerous watercourses that cross the area, you’ll find Ischia di Castro. Its name is believed to derive from the Lombard word “eisch” (“oak”), a testament to the influence of this people on the history of the municipality.
In the same building as the Civic Museum “Pietro e Turiddo Lotti” at Piazza Cavalieri Vittorio Veneto 5, you’ll find the large Public Library. It was once an elementary school and is now part of the Lago di Bolsena Library System. The library offers the following services:
