Overlooking Piazza Dante, the “Antica Legatoria Viali” is one of the oldest workshops in Tuscia where the art of bookbinding is still practiced today. It is a true cultural treasure, which rightfully entered the Registry of Historic Italian Businesses in 2011.

“Antica Legatoria Viali” in Viterbo is known for restoring covers and creating bindings in parchment, leather, or more generally in fabric, which can be cotton, hemp, linen, or synthetic. They also specialize in engraving leather surfaces of tables and writing desks, as well as creating ornamental designs using gold leaf.

The owners, Lucia Maria Arena and Hans Rainer Kolb, will involve you in creating a handmade paper notebook with a hand-bound cover: the result will be unique, yours, and one-of-a-kind. After the workshop, you’ll enjoy a lunch of local products at a typical tavern in the medieval historic center of the City of Viterbo, where you can savor local excellences.

The fee includes:

  • Visit and Workshop at the “Antica Legatoria Viali” workshop.
  • The notebook you create.
  • Traditional lunch at a local tavern.
