Tessennano: the small village perched on tuff

The village, home to only 420 residents, is located in an excellent geographical position surrounded by olive groves and ancient forests.

The small village perched on tuff

Although the origin of the name has two contrasting interpretations (Tuscia Nanun – Tesenna anus), it is certain that the fortunes of the town began during the period of the Schism. Subsequently, Tessennano was a Castle of Tuscania and an important point of reference for communications between Canino and Tuscania. Visitors who come to this architectural gem can easily find themselves away from the hustle and bustle, making it a perfect place to discover at a leisurely pace.

Local dishes

The typical dishes of Tessennano draw inspiration from the agricultural nature of the area: simple yet incredibly wholesome and flavorful. Due to the particularly fertile soil, historical cultivation of olive trees, cereals, and vineyards, you can find excellent quality wine and DOP Canino variety olive oil.
